The work on the track in Vught is taking longer than planned. The track will only be put into use in 2030 instead of 2029. ProRail reports that acceleration is not possible because it would cause additional inconvenience in the area.

The railway is being extensively renovated between Den Bosch and Vught. A fourth, partly deepened track will be added and five dangerous level crossings will disappear. This makes it safer and reduces noise pollution. This is necessary because more trains will run in the coming years, both passenger and freight trains.

At the beginning of April, the track subsided because sheet pile walls were placed in the sunken track. That job has to be done in a different way and that takes more time than previously expected. Design processes also take longer, which is why it was decided not to put the track into use until 2030.

‘Understand that it is annoying’
ProRail says it has considered working on the track in the evening or night, but that would cause additional inconvenience. “For local residents, this means that the work will continue for longer. This also causes longer inconvenience. We understand that this is annoying,” said the railway manager.

An extra track has been temporarily constructed for the major project. Train passengers will therefore continue to travel via this track for longer.

Vught station must also make way for the sunken track. Preparatory work started in May to move the building very carefully, millimeter by millimeter.
