Quentin Tarantino plans a comprehensive making-of book series for all his films. It starts with a work on “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood”. The US director works with the renowned author and journalist Jay Glennie for the project. The first book is scheduled to appear in November 2025.

Each film gets its own book

According to “Deadline”, the book series will cover all previous films of Tarantinos – including films with cult status such as “Pulp Fiction”, “Kill Bill” or “Reservoir Dogs” – as well as its unpublished tenth and last film. After the start with “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” (planned for November 11, 2025), “Inglourious Basterds” (2026) and “Django Unchained” (2027) follow.

Each book begins with an introduction to Tarantino itself. Afterwards, Jay Glennie describes the history of the respective film based on interviews, anecdotes and an exclusive access to occupation and crew. Glennie can also publish previously unknown details – such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie found their roles.

Quentin Tarantino and Jay Glennie about their cooperation

“My actors, my teams and I really enjoyed the time while filming ‘Once Upon A Time in Hollywood’, ‘Inglourious Basterds’ and ‘Django Unchained’,” Tarantino told “Deadline”. “We are all looking forward to seeing the finished books. This is just the beginning, because I know that Jay is as enthusiastic as I do to explore my other films,” continued Tarantino.

Glennie, who is known for her book on the creation of “The Deer Hunter”, is looking forward to the project: “When Quentin asked me whether I wanted to give his films the ‘Jay Glennie treatment’ ‘immediately. Tarantino’s films were the cornerstone of my cinetic education. Films mean everything to me.
