Sweden’s Queen Silvia has a cold, reports a Swede Svensk Damtidning.
The Queen was supposed to attend the annual Advent celebration of a German women’s club on Monday. The event was organized in the German church in Stockholm’s old town. Silvia has been a member of the club since 1976.
The Swedish Court announced that the Queen could not attend.
– The Queen has suffered from the flu and has canceled today’s event to accommodate the other participants, Hovi announced.
Crown Princess Victoria was seen in Silvia’s place.
The 81-year-old queen underwent leg surgery this spring. The reason for the operation was a weak bone.
– The operation went well and the queen is doing well, the court’s communications manager Margareta Thorgren told the press.
In April, Silvia arrived as a prince Andreas to the funeral. The walking stick, on which the queen leaned while walking to the church, attracted attention. The walking stick was also included during the royal couple’s visit to Finland in June.
