The Kansas City Chiefs lose to the Los Angeles Chargers and miss the playoffs for the first time in a decade. An injury to Patrick Mahomes exacerbates the situation.
The Kansas City Chiefs missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade after a 13:16 home loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The simultaneous victories of the Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills sealed the Chiefs’ elimination.
In addition, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a knee injury in the final phase, the severity of which is still unclear. The two-time MVP was taken to the treatment tent and was unable to continue playing. He only got to the Chiefs’ locker room with help; an exact diagnosis is still pending.
The Texans won 40:20 against the Arizona Cardinals and now have nine wins this season. The Buffalo Bills turned the game around against the New England Patriots and turned a 0:21 into a 35:31 win.
The Jacksonville Jaguars won 48:20 against the New York Jets and thus kept up with the Patriots in the top group of the AFC – the table area in which the Chiefs had established themselves for ten years.
