Dino Toppmöller has recently come under increasing criticism at Eintracht Frankfurt. But the coach is probably not in danger of being eliminated.
“Why not?” said sports director Markus Krösche on “Sky” when asked whether Toppmöller would remain coach of Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 45-year-old added: “We have had a very successful journey so far. We moved into the Champions League via the league for the first time in the club’s history.”
Toppmöller is doing a good job, Krösche continued: “He works with the team. Of course he isn’t happy either if we don’t play good football.”
The fact that there are always fluctuations in performance at the SGE is normal given the young squad. “In the end, it’s part of football. We’re having a difficult year with the Champions League and the double burden, and we have a young team,” noted the sports director.
However, they still want to play good football: “We haven’t managed that well in the last few weeks. In terms of points, it’s okay in the Bundesliga, we’re maybe a point or two short, but we’re close to the international places. Of course you’d like to see faster development, but you have to accept that.”
Hamann believes that Toppmöller will remain at Eintracht Frankfurt
Dietmar Hamann also doesn’t see Toppmöller’s coaching job in danger.
“He’s doing a good job. He came under pressure the year before last when things were going well. You always have to ask yourself what people’s ideas and expectations are,” the TV expert on “Sky” clarified: “You have to look at where the Frankfurters are coming from. Things have been steadily improving over the last five, six, eight years. He’s doing it wonderfully. It’s a young team.”
The “kicker” had previously written that Toppmöller’s coaching chair was “no longer completely stable”.
