With Kerem Demirbay in the starting XI, Turkish record champions Galatasaray Istanbul have made it into the group stage of the Champions League.
In the play-off second leg, Galatasaray Istanbul defeated the Norwegian champions Molde FK 2-1 (1-0) on Tuesday evening (29.8.2023). The lions from the Bosporus were already victorious in the first leg (3:2).
Mauro Icardi (7th), who had shone with a goal and an assist the previous week, ensured the early lead for the Istanbul team with a penalty kick. Angelino, who was loaned out by German Cup winners RB Leipzig, scored the late winner (90+3). The interim equalization by Eirik Hestad (66th) was not enough for Molde.

Galatasaray, last represented in the group stage of the premier class in 2019/20, is looking forward to the draw in Monaco on Thursday (6 p.m.) – as will Young Boys Bern and SC Braga.
The Swiss defeated Israel’s Maccabi Haifa 3-0 (2-0) after a goalless first leg and qualified for the group stage for the third time in the club’s history.
Braga, on the other hand, won the second leg at Panathinaikos Athens 1-0 (0-0) after the Portuguese won the first duel between the two teams 2-1.
