Qbuzz wins tender for bus transport in Friesland

Transport company Qbuzz has won the tender for Frisian bus transport. From December 2024, the transport company will run through the Frisian province for ten years. This is at the expense of current carrier Arriva, which also partly operates in Drenthe.

Frisian Arriva lines that now also pass through Drenthe are lines 84 (Drachten-Veenhuizen-Assen), 114 (Leeuwarden-Drachten-Assen), 115 (Heerenveen-Oosterwolde-Assen) and 584 (Drachten-Veenhuizen-Assen).

Qbuzz currently also provides bus transport in Drenthe and Groningen. “Qbuzz offers considerably more public transport than is currently the case. Qbuzz’s offer ensures that more villages have regular travel options,” says deputy Matthijs de Vries.

In Drenthe, Arriva also provides train transport between Emmen and Zwolle. The question remains whether it will remain that way. Today, parent company Deutsche Bahn confirmed its intention to sell Arriva before the end of 2024. It is currently unclear what consequences this will have for transport in the Netherlands.
