Pulp perform unreleased song live – watch the video here

Cocker wrote “Hymn Of The North” in 2019 for the play “Light Falls” – now Pulp performed it live for the first time.

Pulp played a previously unreleased song during a concert. This is “Hymn Of The North”, which cannot be found on any of the British band’s albums. Singer Jarvis Cocker felt it appropriate to perform the piece appropriately at Saturday’s (15 July) performance in his native Sheffield.

Hymn Of The North is a song Cocker wrote for the play Light Falls. Written by Manchester author Stephen Simons, Light Falls is a drama about a variety of people living in the north of England. Cocker’s musical contribution was made in 2019, but in a slightly different form.

During their performance in Sheffield, Northern England, Cocker announced “Hymn Of The North” as a song that had never been heard live before. The Brit surprised his fans by saying “We’re in the north here, so we thought you should hear it first, okay?” Pulp also had another surprise in store for the show: former member Richard Hawley took the stage to play live with his old colleagues.

The gig was part of Pulp’s big reunion tour. Initially, the Britpop legends are only on the road in Great Britain, dates for Germany have not yet been announced. There is also no evidence of a new studio album by Pulp. However, more new material from Jarvis Cocker and Richard Hawley can be heard on the soundtrack to Wes Anderson’s new film Asteroid City.
