Public Prosecution Service demands more than 26 years against Taghi’s nephew for involvement in the murder of lawyer Wiersum

The Public Prosecution Service on Tuesday demanded a prison sentence of more than 26 years against Anouar T., Ridouan Taghi’s cousin, for his involvement in the murder of lawyer Derk Wiersum. This is reported by the ANP news agency. 26 years and eight months is the maximum sentence the officer could demand. A total of ten suspects are on trial in this criminal case.

The Public Prosecution Service states that 30-year-old T. is “the undisputed leader” of the group that prepared the murder of the lawyer “thoroughly and professionally”. He carried out preliminary reconnaissance at Wiersum’s office and house and stole cars that the gunmen used in the murder. T. previously confessed that he was involved in car theft, but denies having anything to do with the murder.

Wiersum, the lawyer of Marengo key witness Nabil B., was shot dead in front of his home in Amsterdam on September 18, 2019. The brother of the key witness and his confidante, crime reporter Peter R. de Vries, were also shot dead. Although many people assume that the order came from Marengo suspect Ridouan Taghi, he himself is not a suspect in the Wiersum murder case.
