PSV rolls over NEC, with Lozano’s return as the highlight

It was a great time again on Saturday evening in the Philips Stadium in Eindhoven. PSV played well and easily won 4-0 against NEC. The team therefore remains faultless in the Eredivisie. But perhaps the highlight of the evening was the return of a true crowd favorite. Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano’s welcome was wonderful.

It was a shame that Noa Lang had to get injured, but Hirving Lozano’s return to the Philips Stadium was received with loud cheers. The 3-0 score at that moment also helped to make it a nice reception.

A few minutes earlier, the Mexican had already started warming up and could count on singing from the stands. That cheer only became louder upon his eventual return.

Convincing PSV
It was a moment that also suited a wonderful evening in Eindhoven. Great late summer weather, good football and three points. PSV actually failed to completely humiliate NEC, even though the statistics at half-time were absurd. The visitors from Nijmegen had zero attempts on goal. PSV had seventeen and ‘only’ managed to use two of them.

After 37 minutes it was Luuk de Jong who headed home from a corner kick. Less than 60 seconds later the ball was in again after a beautiful marker from Noa Lang. Shortly after halftime, De Jong scored his second of the evening, from the penalty spot: 3-0.

Arsenal
At that time, the focus could already be on Arsenal. The English superpower will be the first opponent in the Champions League next Wednesday in London. It is probably the most difficult task for the Eindhoven team in the group stage, in which RC Lens and Sevilla are also the opponents.

Normally you enter a victory for the English on your score sheet, but this PSV is swinging and could easily pull off a stunt on Wednesday on its return to the most important European Cup tournament.

On Saturday evening the score was ultimately limited to 4-0. Substitute Ricardo Pepi scored the fourth Eindhoven goal from the penalty spot. Johan Bakayoko and Lozano would also have liked to take the penalty, but after the intervention of André Ramalho and trainer Peter Bosz, Pepi was still allowed to take the penalty. It seemed as if the players did not want to give each other the penalty kick; Bosz could only laugh about it afterwards.
