FC Den Bosch did not manage to pull off a stunt against PSV. In the eighth final of the KNVB Cup, the Eindhoven team led 0-4 within half an hour. A wonderful moment was the tribute for 12-year-old Laurens from Vught. During the minute of applause for the deceased FC Den Bosch supporter, a goal was scored, but the away fans only celebrated this later. FC Den Bosch did something back, but could not stop PSV towards the quarter-finals.

In a sold-out De Vliert, Peter Bosz gave a number of permanent staff a rest in the eighth final of the KNVB Cup. Yarek Gasiorowski, Guus Til, Mauro Júnior and Ivan Perisic, among others, were allowed to start on the bench. That will not have made much difference for FC Den Bosch, because they were already full of self-confidence prior to the match.

After the clouds of smoke from the fireworks cleared from the M-Side, the kick-off could take place a little later than planned in the capital of Brabant. FC Den Bosch immediately showed that they would not simply bow down to the national champion. With high pressure, PSV was even trapped in its own half several times.

But PSV is not the highest scoring team in the Eredivisie for nothing. After ten minutes Killiann Sildillia came on the right. He gave a cross and Couhaib Driouech was able to head in freely to put the Eindhoven team at 0-1.

Beautiful tribute during FC Den Bosch – PSV
From the twelfth to the thirteenth minute, one minute was commemorated on the death of 12-year-old Laurens from Vught. The entire stadium stood up and applauded. In the meantime, FC Den Bosch captain Kevin Felida gave a dramatic pass to the back and Dennis Man scored the 0-2. However, the tribute continued in the stadium and the PSV fans present only celebrated the goal after the minute had ended.

After 22 minutes it was already 0-3. Reda Akmum was the next to make a mistake in FC Den Bosch’s defense and Esmir Bajraktarevic scored the next goal. It soon became clear that PSV is a size too big for the people of Den Bosch. While things weren’t going that bad offensively at all. FC Den Bosch became dangerous twice through top scorer Kevin Monzialo, without success.

After this it became somewhat embarrassing for the number seven of the Kitchen Champion Division. A few minutes later, Driouech put his second in the net and it was 0-4 within half an hour.

In the second half, Den Bosch seemed to be doing something back, but Thijs van Leeuwen was whistled back for offside. Not much later, PSV goalkeeper Matej Kovár made a mistake and Emian-Johar Semedo scored, but referee Rob Dieperink saved the PSV goalie by ruling that the ball had just crossed the goal line.

FC Den Bosch scores three times
FC Den Bosch was a lot stronger in the second half and deserved a goal. In the end, club legend Danny Verbeek made De Vliert cheer by making it 1-4. And that was it. FC Den Bosch took good revenge in the second act, but was unable to make up for the national champion’s large lead.

The draw will be made on Friday to determine who PSV’s opponent will be in the quarter-finals of the KNVB Cup.
