Ex-Bayern talent is already changing the club again

He was once considered a great talent. At the age of 28, however, Renato Sanches is about to change.
Former Portuguese international Renato Sanches stands before the next chapter of his changeable career. As the French sports newspaper “L’équipe” reports, the midfielder changes to Panathinaikos Athens on a loan. The loan applies until the end of the season – a purchase option is not part of the agreement.
For the 28-year-old, who previously played at Swansea, FC Bayern, Lille, Lille, who played Roma and Benfica, Panathinaikos now offers the next opportunity to gain a sporty foothold again.
A permanent change recently seemed tangible: Trabzonspor was considered interested and apparently also planned a purchase option. According to the report, however, the negotiations failed – so the Turkish club ended the talks due to the player’s injury history and negative medical findings.
Sanches came from Lille to Paris Saint-Germain in 2022 for around 15 million euros, but could never really prevail there. Instead, loan shops for AS Rome followed and finally to Benfica. In Paris himself, his time remained manageable. His contract in the French capital runs until 2027.
