The provisional social assistance budgets 2026 and the final social assistance budgets 2025 have been published. Municipalities pay the benefits for beneficiaries and the wage cost subsidies (LKS) from these budgets. The files with budgets per municipality and a specification file are included as appendices to this message.
Provisional macro budget 2026
The provisional macro budget 2026 is € 7,946 million. The provisional budget 2026 for general social assistance benefits, IOAW, IOAZ and BBZ benefits is € 122.6 million higher than the final budget provided for these schemes before 2025. The provisional LKS budget for 2026 is € 43.6 million higher than the final LKS budget for 2025 in connection with the ingrowth of the LKS target group and the new financing system. On balance, the provisional macro budget 2026 is € 166.2 million higher for 2025.
Final macro budget 2025
The final macro budget 2025 is € 7,779.8 million. This macro budget has been set € 301.1 million higher than the provisional macro budget 2025 (that was estimated at € 7,478.7 million). The final macro budget 2025 is € 439.6 million higher than the final macro budget 2024 (that was € 7,340.2 million).
