Paris (dpa) – The prize money at the French Open for tennis professionals will increase by more than 6.8 percent this year compared to 2019, when the tournament was last organized under normal conditions before the corona pandemic.

Overall, the Stade Roland Garros is about prize money of 43.6 million euros, as announced by the French Tennis Association in Paris. The prize money for singles increased by 1.43 percent and the endowment for women’s and men’s doubles by 6.10 percent compared to 2019. In the qualifications, the prize money increased by 66 percent compared to 2019.

As the tennis association also announced, the increases are intended to support the players who have suffered the most from the Corona crisis in the past two years. The Grand Slam tournament starts on May 22nd and lasts until June 5th.
