Stars

Jürgen Drews has publicly appeared for the first time with a walker. The Schlager singer, suffering from polyneuropathy, appeared calm and stated that he still feels fit under the circumstances.

The Schlager star, Jürgen Drews, 81, was seen using a walker at a reception during “Klassik am Odeonsplatz” in Munich, as reported by “Abendzeitung”.

When asked about the walker, the singer remained notably relaxed, saying, “I still walk normally.” He explained that he took the walker along because he was unsure if the event would require standing. Later, he set it aside and listened to the welcome speech while standing.

Living with Polyneuropathy

Drews is diagnosed with polyneuropathy, a nerve disorder. Commenting on his condition, the 81-year-old said, “Considering the circumstances, I am actually still fit, but I no longer jump around like I used to.” He was accompanied to the reception by his wife, Ramona, and their daughter, Joelina Drews, alongside Joelina’s partner, Adrian Louis.

The Impact of Illness

Drews had previously shared how much the illness limits him in an interview in late 2025. While the polyneuropathy doesn’t cause him pain, long periods of standing or walking straight are challenging. He withdrew from major performances in 2022 due to health issues and now appears only rarely.

The singer openly addresses aging, stating, “Getting old is tough,” while also expressing gratitude for reaching his current age. He now resides in Munich with his wife and daughter.

Joelina’s return to Munich was a heartfelt decision, as she explained in an interview, emphasizing her desire to be there for both her father and mother. This closeness allows for spontaneous family activities, highlighting the importance of familial bonds during this time.

Despite the challenges brought by age and illness, Jürgen Drews remains a beloved figure in the Schlager music scene, embodying resilience and the importance of family support.
