Britain’s Prince Andrew, 65, recently renounced all his royal titles, including the title of Duke of York.
After the announcement, a drastic change took place.
A banner depicting Andrew’s coat of arms was quietly removed from St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle between Saturday and Wednesday. Andrew’s flag used to hang on the castle wall next to Prince William’s flag.
According to The Sun the coat of arms has typically only been removed if a person has been suspected of treason or a planned attack against the crown.
Andrew relinquished his titles after Virginia Giuffre’s memoirs were published. Giuffre is known as a victim of Jeffrey Epstein. He has also made claims regarding the prince. Andrew has strongly denied the allegations.
– After talking with the king and my relatives, we have come to the conclusion that the constant accusations about me are interfering with the work of his majesty and the royal family. I have decided, as always, to put my duty to my family and my country first. I will no longer use the titles and titles that have been given to me, Andrew outlined in his statement regarding the relinquishment of titles.
Andrew also announced that he would give up his membership of England’s most prestigious order, the Order of the Garter. Relinquishing membership is also connected to the removal of the flag, as St. George’s Chapel serves as the base of the order.
Andrew is currently in danger of losing his home on the grounds of Windsor Castle. He lives in a mansion called Royal Lodge.
