Prime Minister Rutte will attend the Africa Adaptation Summit in Rotterdam on Monday 5 September 2022. Organized by the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), the summit aims to raise climate adaptation ambitions in Africa, mobilize funding and forge coalitions.

Several African heads of government are present at the summit, including President Sall of Senegal, who is also President of the African Union. In addition, European Commissioner Timmermans and various European ministers will also take part in the summit.

Prime Minister Rutte delivers the closing remarks and has several meetings in the margins of the summit, including with President Sall of Senegal, President Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo, President Moussa Faki of the African Union Commission and later in the week with President Akufo-Addo of Ghana.

Following the summit, the presidents of Senegal and Ghana will pay a working visit to the Netherlands. President Akufo-Addo of Ghana will visit the Port of Amsterdam and Cargill BV in Wormer on Tuesday morning, 6 September, and the World Horti Center in Naaldwijk in the afternoon. President Sall of Senegal will be at the Maeslantkering in Hoek van Holland and at Deltares in Delft on Tuesday morning, 6 September. In the afternoon he will visit Rijk Zwaan in De Lier.
