Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek, in his statements in a television program he attended, announced that he will be a candidate again in the presidential election to be held next year. Speaking on live broadcast, Özbek emphasized that shortening the election process from three years to two years was the right decision.
Özbek used the following statements in his statement:
“We have elections in May 2026. We reduced the election period from 3 years to 2 years, we saw how right this was. Other clubs are now taking steps in this direction. I will enter the elections in May 2026. I win, another friend of ours wins; it does not matter. These issues do not matter in Galatasaray. I had goals regarding the establishment of facilities, we achieved some of them. I think the person who started the projects should complete them. That is why I am a candidate.”
Mayor Özbek answered the question about whether there will be a change in the administration with the following words:
“This is always possible in Galatasaray. Look at the rival teams in the last 20 years; how many managements, how many presidents have changed… And look at Galatasaray. Galatasaray is a critical community, and this is the basis of its success.”
