President of the Tunisian Football Association arrested

The president of the Tunisian football association FTF, Wadie Jary, has been temporarily arrested on suspicion of corruption. The Ministry of Youth and Sports, which filed the lawsuit, announced this on Thursday.

The reason for the arrest is the “illegality of a contract between the association and a technical director,” said Chokri Hamda, a spokesman for the ministry. The case is related to financial irregularities within the association.

Jary has been President of the FTF since 2012. Investigations are already underway against him, including for money laundering and corruption. He has always denied these allegations.
