In their first league game after winning the English football championship, Manchester City were held to a draw. Pep Guardiola’s team has dropped points for the first time after winning twelve league games in a row.
In the 1: 1 (1: 1) at Brighton & Hove Albion with German captain Pascal Groß, Phil Foden (25th minute) scored after scoring Erling Haaland to take the lead for the champions. Julio Enciso (38th) scored a dream goal from over 20 meters to equalize. The point secured the hosts sixth place in the Premier League and thus qualification for the Europa League.
Overall, Manchester was very difficult. An alleged goal by Erling Haaland was withdrawn after video evidence (79th). City have been crowned Premier League champions again since last Saturday and are now eight points clear of second-placed Arsenal with one game to play.
The “sky blue” can still crown their season with the triple. In the final of the FA Cup, Guardiola and Co. meet arch-rivals Manchester United on June 3rd, a week later they play Inter Milan in Istanbul for the triumph in the Champions League.
