Premier League, Arsenal 3-3 Southampton – La Gazzetta dello Sport

Spectacular draw at the Emirates between the Gunners and Southampton. Now the Londoners are +5 on Guardiola but with two more games

Arsenal still loses shots and Manchester City are now the real favorites for the final victory in the Premier League. Following a thrilling game, the Gunners drew 3-3 with bottom-of-the-table Southampton and are now five points clear of Guardiola’s side but with two games to spare. Fate, once again, is in City’s hands.

THE MATCH

The challenge that inaugurates the Premier League weekend opens in the most unexpected way with a goal by Alcaraz after a mistake by Ramsdale after just 30 seconds. Fifteen minutes later it’s 2-0 for Southampton with the goal of a great ex who in fact does not celebrate, Theo Walcott. From there begins a monologue by Arsenal who produce only one goal in the first half, with the usual Martinelli, in the 20th minute. In the second half the Gunners still attacked, but in the 21st minute Caleta-Car made it 3-1 for the guests. The final was unforgettable, with Arsenal attacking: Odegaard’s crossbar which then closed the gap two minutes from the end. And in the 90th minute it’s 3-3 with Saka. But Arteta’s team didn’t take advantage of the 8 minutes of recovery. It ends 3-3: for Southampton, who remain last, there is still some hope of salvation, for Arsenal a draw that smacks of defeat.
