Last weekend we practiced for Prinsjesdag in various places in The Hague. On Monday, the soldiers held the annual beach exercise on the beach of Scheveningen.

Practice Show Mounted Brigade

On Saturday afternoon, the Mounted Brigade of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee practiced on the Lange Voorhout. The horses were put to the test with fire pits and music, among other things. The aim of this is to let the horses get used to unexpected events and to put trust in the rider.

General rehearsal Prince’s Day

The dress rehearsal for Prinsjesdag took place on Sunday. The Royal Stable Department and the mounted units of Cavalry, Royal Netherlands Marechaussee and National Police explored the route and drove from Noordeinde Palace to the Koninklijke Schouwburg in the morning. There, King Willem-Alexander will deliver the Speech from the Throne this year.

Beach exercise Scheveningen

The last test takes place annually on the beach of Scheveningen. Here the members of the Cavalry Honorary Escort practiced on Monday morning with the horses that participate in the royal riding tour.

The horses were exposed to noise from the crowd and loud music. The public was allowed to make as much noise as possible. The habituation exercise prevents the horses from becoming restless and out of formation during Prinsjesdag.
