(toSkanews) – Another long applause has accompanied and almost encouraged Pope Leo XIV at the end of the rite of delivery of the fisherman’s pallium and the ring. The pontiff appeared, in fact, moved and looked at the ring he had just worn. Three purple that delivered the symbols of the pallium to the pontiff (symbol of the bishop as a good shepherd and, together, of the Crucifix lamb for the salvation of humanity) and the ring of the fisherman, during the Pontificate Start Mass in St. Peter’s Square.
Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, prefect of the Congregation for Evangelization has delivered the fisherman’s ring. The image of San Pietro is depicted on the ring with the keys and the net and the word “Leone XIV” is read inside. It is said “of the fisherman” because “Pietro is the fisherman apostle who, having had faith in the word of Jesus, from the boat he took the nets of miraculous fishing from the ground”. He has the specific value of the ring-edge that radically authentic the faith, a task entrusted to Pietro to confirm his brothers and therefore transmitted as his successor also to Pope Leo XIV.
