Police warn of fraud by fake bank teller

“Recently there have been several reports of a new form of fraud,” said the police spokesman.

How does the scammer operate?

The victims are called by someone who claims to work at the bank. He tells that there has been a suspicious transaction in the bank account and that a fellow banker is on his way to stop the suspicious transaction.

“A little later, the fellow bank teller rings the victim’s doorbell and together they log in to the victim’s home banking. The victim is asked to enter his personal PIN code in the presence of the bank teller,” said the police. Then the bank card is requested.

The suspect leaves the house and shortly afterwards money is withdrawn from the account.”

When contacting your bank, it will never ask you to log in to your home banking and to provide them with your personal code, the police will provide.
