In the Walstraat, the dissatisfaction about the possible arrival of a McDonald’s around the corner has somewhat disappeared. The entrance of the ‘most famous street in Deventer’ will soon be right next to the entrance of the large yellow M. Jan Strik, owner of several buildings, is pleased with the measures taken in advance against possible nuisance. “In the interest of the city, it is better that everything is completed.”

There is a good chance that the entrance to the Walstraat in Deventer will soon have a different face. There will probably be a McDonald’s in the large white building on the corner with Keizerstraat and in a warehouse behind it. Bookstore Praamstra was the permanent face there for years, but the company moved to a different location in the city center in 2021. The building has been vacant ever since.
