A man was arrested on the A58 at Best on Thursday morning because he was suspected of having a firearm in his car. Another road user would have seen that and called the police. Agents of the national unit then pulled out with several police cars to intercept the car.

That happened during rush hour, around eight in the morning. According to a spokesperson, that team was closest at the time of the report and that is the reason that the national unit picked it up.

Several agents with bullet -proof vests rushed to the A58 and managed to put the car aside. The driver was taken out of the car – with pulled weapon – and put his hands up along the road. The car was searched, but the police could not find a weapon.

The man was arrested and was taken to the desk. There he is interrogated and it is checked whether the man has previously committed criminal offenses. “But as it looks now, it seems that he is released again,” says a spokesperson. “We need evidence and if nothing is found, then we can no longer hold someone.”
