Polar bears receive a setback in Munich

Champion Eisbären Berlin has suffered another setback in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) after the recent upswing.

Coach Serge Aubin’s team lost 4-3 (0-2, 1-1, 2-1) at Red Bull Munich on Wednesday and slipped down to eleventh place with 14 points. Munich (28) consolidated the top position.

Meanwhile, Adler Mannheim suffered their second home defeat in four days. After the 3:5 against ERC Ingolstadt on Sunday, it was 1:4 against Düsseldorfer EG (0:1, 0:2, 1:1). Mannheim remains third, DEG advanced to eighth place.

In Munich, Andreas Eder (8th) and Jonathon Blum (12th) gave the hosts a 2-0 lead. Zach Boychuk shortened (24′), but Daryl Boyle (36′) restored the old gap, Justin Schütz (46′) increased.

Matt White (50th) and Jonas Müller (53rd) made it exciting again, but Berlin, who had recently won four games from five, tried in vain to equalize.
