It was a game full of passion and pace: in the end, the Cologne sharks also had their nose ahead in the second play-off duel with the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven.
The Cologne Haie also won two of the quarter-final series against the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven. After the 5-0 win on Sunday in Bremerhaven (16.03.2025), a 5: 2 (2: 1, 2: 1, 0: 0) success on its own ice. The Cologne team thus run 2-0 in the series. The team, which is the first four victories in the account, moves into the semi -finals.
Stormy start
The Cologne sharks Started furiously in game two of the quarter-final series. Right with the first attack, they would have managed to take a hair, but Gregor McLeod only hit the right post after a real rocket after 40 seconds with a ride shot.
But Cologne stayed tuned. The cathedral townsmen looked agile, much more aggressive than the opponent. And yet were caught cold. The Schiri team had seen a foul in the 9th minute, showed a punishment for Cologne. Bremerhaven’s goalkeeper went off the ice and the polar bears hit ice cold overnight. After a long -range shot from Verlic, Cologne keeper Hudacek fought off the disc at the side, where Bremerhavens Žiga Jeglič lurked. He pushed the slice ice cold to 0: 1 over the line.
Cologne Agil and duel strong
But the hosts were not shocked. Right with the bully, we went back to Fischtowns goal. And just a minute after the goal, the cathedral townsmen themselves met. Again Bremerhaven was put under pressure and Mo Müller pulled off centrally hard. Josh Currie was good, falced the disc and it was 1: 1 (10th).
It was a great one Ice hockey-Piel in the first section – which was mainly due to the agile Cologne. They remained aggressive and joyful – and were able to look forward to the lead before the first break: McLeod made steam on the left, pulled the disc over the goal in front of the goal to Alexandre Grenier, who only had to hold the trowel: 2: 1 (19th). Cologne was in the lead after the first third of Hochddinet.
Haie bring arena to cook
The atmosphere in the Cologne arena was shiny and, shortly after the opening bully of the second section, cooked even more: Cologne scored a wonderful goal after a very quick combination. After a disc win in the neutral third, Kevin Niedenz pulled left, but almost played the puck wonderfully into the run of Josh Currie, who was considering 3: 1 from a central position (23rd).
Cologne seemed to be on the way – but suddenly Bremerhaven was back. Or rather: Max Görtz. The lively attacker started a solo on the left, moved into the middle, also turned over keeper Hudacek and already for the 3-2 goal (25th).
Austin meets in Bremerhaven’s urge phase
Bremerhaven was back. And now pressed. Had smelled. Cologne had to defend with everything the team had. And the sharks survived the opponent’s pressure phase. To put on the 4: 2 in the counterattack: Brady Austin moved well from a left -wing left position and fled the puck from eight meters to the fourth Cologne goal (34th).
The game had experienced a kind of preliminary decision. Because although Bremerhaven really tried everything in the last section, there was no herb against the aggressive hosts that evening, especially when it comes to duels. The sharks played down and confidently for the last 20 minutes – and had the second victory in the series in the pocket after the goal to 5: 2 by Grenier (59th).
