Heitinga said at the press conference that not all his players are able to play ninety minutes three times a week. “Ideally, that would be the case. But we have a few guys who come back from injuries, so you have to train them first.”

Heitinga indicated that he prefers few changes in his setups. “We are looking for captures, for continuity.”

The trainer hopes that Ajax can take another step in Eindhoven, after his team appeared good during the last matches during certain periods. “You want to see those things again, you want to give it a follow -up. You want to see progression. It has not yet succeeded for ninety minutes, but we want to go there.”

Champions League

Just like Ajax, PSV lost at home in the Champions League last week, with 3-1 against the Belgian Champion Union. However, Heitinga seemed to attach little value to the European result.

“This is a top match in the Netherlands. PSV is the reigning national champion. They have a lot of quality, with a very experienced trainer. I am really looking forward to this game. I don’t have much with shape. The most important thing is that I focus on my own team,” says Heitinga.

PSV starts the game with a one point lead on Ajax.
