There may be a new residential area on the east side of Zuidwolde. Roelofs Groep is planning to build around 180 houses.

A large part of the land between Boslaan and Steenbergerweg has been in the company for years. The company reports that another owner also has ears to housing. The aim is for 60 percent rental homes, half of which are social rent. The other forty percent will be built for sale.

The municipality of De Wolden agrees with the further investigation of the possibilities for the new residential area. In the plan there is room for the Hofwonen Zuidwolde initiative, a neighborhood for people over 55. That project was first planned on the west side of the village, but the municipality did not think that was a suitable place.

The municipality does not expect that construction will be built before 2030. A lot of time is needed to do all the necessary investigations. Discussions are also planned with local residents.

Residents of the Boslaan lose their unobstructed view over the field. They are involved in working out the plans. “We want to organize a walk -in evening for the neighborhood as soon as possible,” says Diede ter Braak of Roelofs. “We are now making an invitation letter.”

At the carpool place at Viaduct Alteveer, an ‘energy hub’ has to come to provide the neighborhood with electricity. Ter Braak: “Stream from solar panels and other energy facilities in the area come together there. From there it is further distributed.”
