“Place for a squeeze” or “a well-considered decision”? Mixed reactions to canceled ‘Queer Iftar’ in Antwerp | Borgerhout

An iftar or sugar fest specifically for Muslims from the LGBTQ+ community. Antwerp is apparently not ready yet. The organization pulled the plug on the event after threats and other signals. And that just on the day that the city council is campaigning against racism and discrimination. In Borgerhout and by extension the rest of the city, the response is disappointed. “But the LGBTQ+ community is resilient, we will come out of this stronger.”
