raga, 14 Nov. (askanews) – A union between art and innovation, between nature and technology. AND “Elements”, the new 2026 Pirelli Calendar created by the Norwegian photographer Solve Sundsbo which celebrates the beauty and strength of women of all ages. Now in its fifty-second edition, in the new The Cal – presented today in Prague – the protagonists are portrayed as symbolic incarnations of the natural elements (earth, air, fire and water), but also of more intangible forces, such as energy, ether, light.

“I wanted to capture emotions, instincts and moods that are central to human life – explained Sundsbo -, the connection with nature and our relationship with time and space. It’s a way to connect to something we come from and technology has helped me bring nature outside of us into us, to internalize it.”

Pirelli unveils The Cal 2026, by Norwegian photographer Solve Sundsbo

Sundsbo began photographing in April between Holkham beach, Norfolk, and the Essex countryside, before continuing his studio work between London and New York. And it is in the studio that, as a great technology enthusiast and experimenter, he used the most advanced 3D systems to re-propose the suggestions of landscapes – sunsets, clouds, fire, water – as backgrounds for the protagonists of his project.

The protagonists of the 2026 Pirelli calendar: from Eva Herzigova to Luisa Ranieri

I wanted to photograph mature womenwith experience and depth, women who I deeply respect for what they represent”, he underlined. The 22 photographs that make up the Calendar portray 11 protagonists from the world of cinema, fashion, sport and music: Isabella Rossellini, Venus Williams, Tilda Swinton, Gwendoline Christie (“Game of Thrones“), Luisa Ranierithe actress of Puerto Rican origin Adria Arjona (True Detective), the British singer-songwriter FKA Twigs, the Czech supermodel Eva Herzigova (which returns 30 years after the first The Calwas present in the 1996 edition and then in 1998), the English stylist and former model Susie Cave (already appeared in the 1991 and 1986 editions), the Russian model Irina Shayk and the Chinese model and actress Du Juan (already in the 2008 Calendar).

“It’s my 33rd Calendar – explained Tronchetti -, Sundsbo offered us something very interesting with nature and the elements, and a cast of women, not girls, each, in different worlds, with a true storyof work and activity, and he managed to express it in a magical way. We chose Prague first and the calendar made it a natural place for its presentation.”
