A month after Jennifer Lopez revealed in an interview that she was originally scheduled for the iconic VMA kiss between Madonna, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears, another person has spoken out: On Wednesday (Feb. 22). Pop star Pink said in an interview with radio station KTU 103.5 that she was also invited to the performance – and so was Gwen Stefani.

“It would have been a really weird party”

“I think we were all invited,” recalls the singer, whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore. “I think Madonna wanted to kiss all of us. I was in Costa Rica at the time and was having a blast with my friend Carey Hart. Gwen Stefani was also invited, I remember. We were a whole bunch.” She adds, “It was supposed to be a party. It would have been a really weird party.”

A few weeks earlier, Jennifer Lopez also said in an interview that she was asked for the iconic performance at the time. However, she was shooting a film at the time, which is why she had to cancel. “I didn’t do it, but yeah, we talked about it,” said the 53-year-old actress and singer. “I love Madonna. I’m a big fan, always have been.”

Madonna made headlines 20 years ago when she performed with Spears and Aguilera. The singers performed the song “Hollywood”. Meanwhile, Madonna kissed Spears and then Aguilera. The moment was also memorable as the camera panned at just the right moment to reveal Justin Timberlake, who stood petrified. He and Spears split a year earlier.
