Peter Wright wins title at European Darts Championship

Peter Wright won his second title at the European Darts Championship in Dortmund. After 2020, the 53-year-old Scot now also prevailed in 2023 on Sunday evening (October 29th, 2023) after an 11:6 final victory over England’s James Wade.

“Happy Halloween everyone,” Wright called out to the packed Westfalenhalle in Dortmund. The darts star from Scotland held the European Championship trophy in his hand; orange pumpkins could be seen everywhere on both his trousers and his colorful shirt.

Snakebite“, as Wright is known for his colorful costumes and hairstyles, crowned a strong tournament on Sunday evening, in which he clearly defeated world champion Michael Smith from England, among others. He almost lost against the German Gabriel Clemens at 6:5 in the first round eliminated.

Wright confidently in his Halloween outfit

The two-time world champion Wright prevailed confidently in his Halloween outfit and played a dominant final. The significant one major-Title also helps Wright in the so-called Order of Merit, the world rankings. With the 120,000 pounds (around 137,000 euros), Wright overtakes the Dutchman Michael van Gerwen and takes second place in the ranking again.

Only world champion Smith has earned more prize money in the past two years. In just over six weeks (December 15th to January 3rd) it will begin Alexandra Palace from London the World Cup.
