A 70-year-old man from Assen is again in custody for sexually harassing young children. The man has been known to law enforcement as an exhibitionist since 1988. From 2014 onwards, the man came into contact with the law and experts diagnosed him with pedophilia. So far, the suspect has almost always denied it.
The man from Assen is now accused of showing his genitals to a girl in Assen in the period from September 2024 to July 2025, every time she passed by.
In June of this year he allegedly masturbated near a boy in Meppel. In Borger he allegedly did this two months later in front of two girls.
According to the public prosecutor, the victims were around ten years old. The man was sentenced by the court in January 2021 to six months in prison, of which four months were conditional. He received the punishment for sexually harassing two boys aged 13 and 14 in 2018 at the Baggelhuizerplas.
The suspect did not appear at the preliminary hearing. His case will be substantively heard on February 24. He will remain stuck for so long.
