THEthe scent of summer? There are those who associate it with the tropical one of sunscreens and those who, on the other hand, have their own olfactory signature which they never want to give up. Not even in the sun. Here then comes thescented water, in a practical spray format, usually an evanescent, fresh and light version of the classic eau de parfum. But a question arises. Can it also be used on the beach or in the pool during sun exposure?

Perfumed water in the sun: yes or no?

The answer is not unique. Perfumed water for the body is not photosensitizing – and therefore can be used safely in the sun – only when it is completely alcohol-free.

Not all body mist they are, however, alcohol-free. However, concentrations tend to remain very low less than 5%. The rest is all water. TOEven a small percentage of alcohol can in any case be enough to irritate and sensitize delicate skin. Therefore, pay attention to the INCI on the back of the package.

Perfumed water, moisturizing ally

In addition to water, essences and possibly (a little) alcohol, the latest generation of perfumed waters for the body they also incorporate moisturizing active ingredients and refreshing.

There Brumes Du Maroc Of Moroccanoil, for example, has a formula based on argan oil and vitamin E for an antioxidant action. L’Eau Rouge of the line No. 1 of ChanelInstead, contains an extract of red camellia which awakens the vitality of skin cells.

Other star ingredients include aloe vera extract with soothing and calming properties and witch hazel water, a decongestant. «Some formulas also contain real thermal water, precious because it is rich in minerals with restorative virtues» explains the cosmetologist Antonella Antonini.

Or again, it Spray d’Été pour le Corps Citronelle & Geranium Of Diptyque Incorporates Citronella, Geranium and Lemon Eucalyptus essential oils anti mosquitoes. Pmore multitasking than that…

Scented body water with menthol, refreshing

However, to refresh most body spray waters use menthol. «Unlike alcohol, this is totally harmless in the sun, also because small quantities are enough for a powerful refresh action» underlines the expert.

But be careful: «Never vaporise body mist based on menthol on the eyes and mucous membranes – continues Antonini -. Furthermore, by not incorporating UVA and UVB filters, the perfumed body water should be sprayed over the sunscreen». A gesture that, unfortunately, in some cases, could alter its wake.

Perfumed body waters: how to use them

The body mist alcohol-free they can therefore be vaporized at any time of the day, at a distance of 10/20 centimetres, to regain comfort especially when the skin is dehydrated. In the evening, after a shower, they are perfect to spray generously on bare skin to enhance the trail of your fragrance.

The eternal undecided can, however, try the technique of layering which consists of superimposing different perfumed waters in order to create your own very personal olfactory signature.
