Peperkamp sixth in big air final, gold for Austrian Gasser

Snowboard star Melissa Peperkamp finished sixth in the big air final at the Olympic Games. The 17-year-old snowboarder set two best scores in Beijing of 72.00 and 69.75 points for a total of 141.75. Peperkamp therefore did a lot better than a day earlier, when she qualified as number 11 for the final battle with a score of 128.25.

The gold went to the Austrian Anna Gasser, who scored 185.50 thanks to an excellent last jump. New Zealand’s Zoi Sadowski Synnott, previously winner of gold on slopestyle, now had to settle for silver (177.00). Kokomo Murase from Japan was third (171.50).

Peperkamp also participated in the slopestyle section at the Games earlier this week. The Zelhemse finished thirteenth in qualifying and just missed a place in the final.
