Pep Guardiola is a legend at Manchester City during his lifetime. Most recently, he extended his contract until 2027. After that, he has a special plan.
Pep Guardiola is considering distanceing from the big football stage in the future – at least temporarily. “I will stop at Manchester City after my contract. I am sure,” said Guardiola at ESPN: “I don’t know if I will end my career, but I’ll treat myself to a break.”
The Catalan Treaty runs until June 2027, and only in November he had extended by two more years. Fulfilled Guardiola his contract in England, he would be with the Skyblues for eleven years, it is already the longest term of his career by far. He trained FC Barcelona for four years, Bayern Munich three seasons.
At City, Guardiola shapes the most successful era in club history. He led the team to six titles in the Premier League, as well as the first success in the Champions League 2022/23. This season his team lags behind expectations.
“I knew that we would fall at some point, but we fell deep,” he said: “What we did in ten or nine years was exceptional, but now we have to sit down and learn to understand what we have to do in the future.”
In December, the 54-year-old announced that after his departure of City he would “take on no other team”, but was left open to become a national coach.
