Peize reaches the quarter finals of the cup

On Wednesday evening, Peize qualified for the quarter-finals of the battle for the northern district cup at home after taking better penalties than opponent FC Meppel. After regular playing time the score was 1-1.

The match played ahead in the eighth final of the battle for the northern district cup between third division team Peize on Sunday and third division club FC Meppel on Saturday was already considered an interesting clash. Both teams are doing more than excellently in both the league and the cup. Peize is the undisputed leader of 3B on Sunday and FC Meppel is in second position in 3D on Saturday.

Both teams also made an excellent impression in the cup tournament. Peize, the team of coach Elte Hofman, eliminated the first division teams GVAV Rapiditas and Jubbega, among others. FC Meppel, the team of coach Arjan Bosschaart, left first division GRC Groningen without a chance with a 4-1 win.

Tight lead

Peize came out best in the mutual battle. After more than fifteen minutes, Ivar Cats gave me the 1-0 lead. Peize’s narrow lead remained until just before the end of the game. In the final phase, however, the fiercely pressing FC Meppel came back through a penalty from junior Miguel: 1-1.

In the penalty shootout, Miguel was the only one to miss his penalty. “Super,” said winning trainer Elte Hofman. “I have no words for that

we have reached the quarter finals.” Bosschaart was disappointed. “So we are now going to focus entirely on the competition.”
