A pedestrian ignored a red light on Sunday evening around 6 p.m. and ran across Torstrasse near Gormannstrasse (Berlin-Mitte). She apparently overlooked the tram coming from Mollstrasse.

The tram driver (30) gave several acoustic signals and applied the brakes – but was no longer able to prevent the collision with the woman.

The pedestrian was taken to the intensive care unit of a hospital with serious injuries, including to her head and collarbone. The tram driver sustained minor injuries to his arm and upper body and was in shock. He was treated in a hospital.

According to current information, tram passengers were not injured.
