Patty Brard should be suspended for a month after her ugly swipe at her direct colleague Airen Mylene, says media expert Victor Vlam. “Make it clear that this is not possible.”
She has a reputation for teamwork: Patty Brard. This time she lashed out hard at her Shownieuws colleague Airen Mylene, who she and square public accused of ‘stupid attention-seeking brat’. The reason? Patty seems pissed off at Airen’s revelation about two coworkers ricocheting in a Talpa closet.
Rare attack
Her annoyance is of course justified, but you have to respond proportionately, says media expert Victor Vlam. “It is an attack that you do not see very often in the Dutch entertainment world,” he says in his podcast The Communicados. “I saw that and I think: what?!? They sit together at the table in Shownieuws!”
Victor thinks Patty is indeed pissed off about Airen’s snappy revelation. “Yes, that was of course a bit of a clumsy remark from Airen, because there are four presenters of Shownieuws, so if she tells the story, then the
question: which of the three, eh? So that’s not very wise. She couldn’t have done that better.”
Hurt hard
However, Patty’s reaction is unacceptable, he thinks. “This kind of uncollegial behavior, you really have to limit it. You just can’t allow that to happen. It’s just meant to hurt her. It’s just meant to make her feel bad. So if Airen is reading this, she’s probably having a bad day.”
That was Patty’s intention, according to Victor. “To just hurt somebody really haphazardly… Really uncollegiate, really uncollegiate, not good. This is really something Patty does more often. That’s why I think: John de Mol should just act against this. Because this kind of uncollegial behavior is just something that disrupts the whole team there.”
Patty’s diva behavior
You can’t let this happen, said Victor. “This kind of diva behavior is really totally, totally unacceptable. And we’re just dealing with a pattern here. You just wonder: what does this do to the team spirit behind the scenes?”
He continues: “It can’t be good for the group feeling if at any given moment one member of that team can throw some kind of verbal Molotov cocktail at that team. You know, because that’s what Patty just does here. At a certain point you also have to say as a boss: ‘Patty, this is unacceptable.’”
Month suspension
You should just suspend such a Patty for a month, says Victor. “I have to tell you very honestly, I think Patty for this – which is what I would have done if I was the boss of that program – should be suspended from that program for a month. I had said, ‘We’re not going to invite you. This is really unacceptable.’”
“Make it clear that this is not possible, because if you do not set a limit to this, then you know that it will happen more often.”
