Party tents of neighborhood association De Weide in Hoogeveen were destroyed last night, after yesterday’s King’s Day. There is damage to all three tents that were set up. According to a first estimate, the damage is above 10,000 euros.
“We are a bit defeated at the party grounds,” says chairman Hein Akerboom of the neighborhood association. “Three of the four roof parts have been cut, and fifteen side flaps.”
The association had rented a large party tent, and two pagoda tents. “One for registration, and one for the poffertjes.” The tent rental company had a busy day because of King’s Day, and left the tents in Hoogeveen because of that bustle in good faith.
“It always went well, so we dared to,” says Akerboom. This time it went differently. “We are not insured,” he says. The insurance applied to a field other than where the tents stood.
Because mobile toilets were turned over last year, the association had asked boas to keep an extra eye on things.
The neighborhood association had a very successful day. “There were thousands of people, it was a big party and everyone went home with a good feeling.” It was the first time in a few years that the party could continue in full glory again. “Once a bouncy festival fell into the water, the following year it was too hot and the children couldn’t go on the inflatables. Now everything was arranged for a good party.”
The De Weide neighborhood association will report the destruction. Furthermore, the association hopes for tips from people who have seen something at night.
