The new building is connected to the existing logistics center by a glass tunnel by road. A major investment of 85 million euros. Tom Verbeke, TVH: “At the moment, due to the growth of TVH, we are still spread out on the site. In this way we have not only constructed a building, but also rethought our processes.”
Robots
Everything goes faster this way, and above all automatically. With roller conveyors and robots. “We work with roller conveyors, the classic way to transport goods in an automatic warehouse. We also consciously choose robots because they are very scalable and very flexible. If we need to add capacity tomorrow, we will simply add a robot. If we change our processes, we can program those robots differently.”
Armed for the future
The new building has a combined four floors of 54,000 square meters of space, loading and unloading takes place on 17 loading docks. That also costs something: 85 million euros. But TVH can continue with this for a while. “We can certainly still grow in this new building. We have some extra space and we want to grow as a company, so yes: we are prepared for the future for a number of years.”
This building in Waregem is not the only expansion for TVH: new warehouses will also open soon in Dubai and the US.
