(toskanews) A thrilling flight, fortunately ended well. Australian authorities have released the video showing a parachutist remained hanging at around 4,600 meters high after his parachute became entangled in the tail of the plane he was jumping from.

The crash which occurred south of Cairns KERNZ during an aerial stunt dates back to September, but the images have now been released by the Transport Safety Regulatory Authority. The paratrooper survived. An operator filmed the scene: the reserve parachute of one of the jump participants was activated after the handle got caught in the plane’s wing. The paratrooper was thrown backwardswith the legs hitting the vehicle, while the orange reserve parachute wrapped around the tail.

It remained dangling in the void, then it is managed to cut the reserve parachute cords with a hook knife and broke free, opening the main parachute and managing to land. «Although it was not mandatory, at the time of the accident the paratrooper had a hook knife attached to chest strapwhich allowed him to cut enough cords of the reserve parachute to detach it” explained Sarah Fien, head of the investigation. «Having a hook knife attached to the parachute container can save life in case of premature opening of the reserve parachute. This survey also reminds those who carry out skydiving operations of the importance of wearing an emergency parachute and knowing how to open it”
