Dimitris Giannakopoulos, the President of the Greek representative Panathinaikos, made flash statements about the Olympiakos – Fenerbahçe Beko match, which was supposed to be played in the Euroleague on Thursday, December 4, but was postponed due to water dripping on the court following adverse weather conditions.
Stating that Fenerbahçe should be considered the winner by default, Giannakopoulos said:
“I wonder if a 20-0 forfeit decision will be applied in favor of the opposing team due to inappropriate gym conditions.
Or will they issue documents that mention weather conditions or other things? These are not extreme weather conditions.
It’s happened many times. If some teams did not invest in order for the matches to be played under normal conditions, the regulations and rules are clear. I am optimistic that the decision will be made in favor of a 20-0 forfeit victory. Let’s wait and see.”
