The music world mourns the loss of Ozzy Osbourne. The musician who became known as the “Prince of Darkness” died at the age of 76, just a few weeks after the Black Sabbath Farewell concert in Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5, 2025. There he had played the song “Mama, I’m Coming Home”. Now a fan has published an alternative version.

Dimitrios Barmpas, music journalist and vocal coach, freed the last performance of Ozzy Osbourne with “Mama, I’m Coming Home” from all instruments and background noises, so that only the voice of Ozzy can be heard. Barmpas had already released this version in early July.

“Mama, I’m Coming Home” was part of Ozzy Osbournes 1991 album No more Tears. It is the only single Osbournes that made it into the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. His performance at the “Back to the Beginning” show was a highly emotional moment for many fans.

In addition to Black Sabbath itself, there was also a number of guest appearances on July 5. The entire day was moderated by actor Jason Momoa and accompanied by some of the biggest names of the music scene: Metallica, Guns N ‘Roses, Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, Slayer, Tool, Yungblud and Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. A concert film is planned for 2026 throughout the day.
Around 40,000 fans were present in the stadium, and around three million viewers: inside followed the spectacle via livestream online. Since the news of the death of the singer, many of the music scene publicly have made their grief, including the members of Black Sabbath.
