Nottingham Forest pays tribute to the late John Robertson with a special gesture. The renaming is intended to immortalize his legacy in the stadium.

Nottingham Forest want to rename the Bridgford Stand at the stadium in honor of the late club legend John Robertson. Club owner Evangelos Marinakis said in a statement from the Premier League team that he had recommended this to the board “so that his legacy – and our great hero – will be remembered forever.”

The former Scottish international was instrumental in the club’s greatest successes, including two European Cup victories and the only domestic championship. Robertson, who died on December 25 aged 72 after a long illness, was a key figure in Nottingham Forest’s glorious era.

His decisive goal in the 1980 European Cup final against Hamburger SV, which secured the 1-0 victory in Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, is particularly remembered. He also played a crucial role in the 1979 final against Malmö FF when he provided the cross for Trevor Francis’ winning goal in the Munich Olympic Stadium.
