Overloaded and unstable: New police zones have not been able to connect to ANPR camera system for two years

Since May 2023, no new police zones can connect to the National Database of ANPR cameras, the cameras with license plate recognition. The platform was set up in 2018, but was gradually overloaded and unstable. “A system that is essential in the fight against organized crime does not work properly,” says MP Matti Vandemaele (Groen).
