Otto Waalkes stormed the charts with these two rappers

At the age of 74, Otto Waalkes has made it into the high chart regions for the first time in his career. But not with a new song from him, but with the classic “Friesenjung” from 1993. More precisely with a techno remake of the song, together with the Berlin rapper Ski Aggu and the Dutchman Joost. “Friesenjung” was released on May 25th, followed by a music video on June 2nd, in which Otto Waalkes can also be seen.

Who are Ski Aggu and Joost?

Ski Aggu, whose real name is August Jean Diederich, comes from Berlin-Wilmersdorf. One of his texts states that he is 19 years old, but this is questionable. Elsewhere, Diederich rapped about studying. For his music, he often uses older well-known songs, which he or his producers rework with rave and techno elements. His first hit “party cream‘ contains approximately a sample of ‘Jerk it out‘ the Caesars. In his tracks he usually deals with party and drug excesses. His external features include his ski goggles, which he always wears in public, and his mullet hairstyle.

Joost Klein, 25, is from Leeuwarden in the province of Friesland in the Netherlands. He used to be a YouTuber, but now he focuses on music. His current record “Fryslân” was released in 2022. He has over 350,000 followers on Instagram and maintains some contacts in the German rap scene, including Ski Aggu.

The three artists have appeared together on social media several times in the weeks leading up to the release. In an Instagram video, Ski Aggu, Joost and Otto Waalkes can be seen making the German capital unsafe. The Berlin rapper jokingly asked Otto on the internet and at concerts for permission to publish the song.
