The Otto Group is expanding its divisional board. From June 2026, Marcus von Franck will take over the position of Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), the Hamburg trading and services group announced on Thursday. In his new role, he will be responsible for the Advertising Services, Marketing and Product Development business units.

It was already known that Otto was planning to expand the board to include another member. At the same time as the appointment of CEO Boris Ewenstein, it was announced that the marketing department would be strengthened in 2026. In the future, the group’s board of directors will consist of Ewenstein as chairman, Andrea Becker as responsible for finance, HR & services, Michael Müller-Wünsch as chief information officer and Marcus von Franck.

“I am very happy that we managed to win Marcus von Franck as a new member of the Otto divisional board,” said Marcus Ackermann, Group Board Member for Multichannel Distance Selling at the Otto Group. “He has exactly the expertise that is needed to take Otto’s approach to existing and new customers to the next level and thus make an enormously important contribution to the future viability of the company.”

The designated CMO moves to Otto from meal kit company HelloFresh Group. He has worked there as Senior Vice President and CMO for North America since 2023 and was responsible for the brand and marketing strategy of the HelloFresh and Factor brands. This included, among other things, branding, performance marketing, customer relationship management (CRM), promotions and data-driven marketing management.

Before joining HelloFresh, von Franck worked for the online retail group Amazon for a total of 13 years. Most recently, as Director EU Prime & Marketing, he was responsible for marketing for several European markets, including Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Sweden, Poland and Turkey, as well as product management for the Amazon Prime membership program. Previously, as Head of Marketing or Marketing Director Germany, he managed all marketing channels, campaigns and customer segment strategies.

Other stages in his career include management positions at United Internet, where he worked as Vice President Product Management at 1&1 Mail & Media, at the online travel provider lastminute.com and at the digital agency SinnerSchrader.
